Finally, backgrounds and finishing touches. This is possibly the most time consuming part of each comic. Depending on the specific needs, working on the background can sometimes take over two hours (sad face).

I try to reuse backgrounds by drawing one very large detailed one and putting different spots in accordingly. I'm still trying to improve my backgrounds but hey, who doesn't want to get better at what they do?

Finishing touches include adding the title to the comic, which I've always done on the spot, and any other visual dealies I don't include in bubbles and SFX. In this case, two low opacity layers of plain dark colors to simulate night (one black and one dark blue).

I hope you found this at least somewhat interesting. Maybe looking at my process even gave some up-and-coming artist an idea or two. Sooner or later, something is bound to change in how I go about working on each comic... of course this is the case with everyone, and there's really no right or wrong way!
