Curious about how my comics get done? Well, for the next several fillers, you can see step-by-step what my current process is. How exciting! Obviously this isn't how I went about doing my comics several months ago, and who knows what I may do differently in the future. Anyhoo...
Before I even start sketching, I make sure I like the script I have written for the comic and wont want any major changes halfway through drawing it. I use 0.5mm blue lead, originally because I inked the comics by hand and the light blue wouldn't be picked up on the scanner. Now I just like how it looks and it's easier to erase.
I scan the several pages of scattered sketches as grayscale and make sure they're light, but easy to make out. Then, the scanned images are placed into a new comic file, resized, rearranged, cropped, and so forth. Basically, I just organize them into imaginary frames and figure out if everything will fit alright.
(I've tried to sketch a full comic on a single page... doesn't turn out well.)
